Practicums with the IJP

Practicum Placements:

The Integrated Justice Program offers practicum placements to students at the University of Regina and First Nations University of Canada. Spots are limited and students will be selected based on a panel interview process. 

What to expect…

Learning Goals for Students

  • Recognize and understand Gladue Principles
  • Develop and tune legal knowledge
  • Develop and tune research and writing skills
  • Learning about a team based approach to court submissions
  • Develop increased cultural literacy
  • Professional development including some certified trainings

Student Responsibilities

  • Complete all required trainings and demonstrate a working knowledge in practice
  • Attend court and other professional development meetings
  • Produce strong and concise academic research when instructed to do so and collaborate with the Gladue Writing Team as needed
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders both within and outside of the project
  • Deadlines are critical to the work we do, students are expected to adhere to all deadlines and alert the team any time this is not possible
